Mini Statue Hunt

A Unique Sightseeing Tour in Budapest

Sightseeing tour in Budapest on the route of Kolodko’s mini statues

This tour is a classical sightseeing tour in Budapest following the route of the Hungarian “guerilla” artist, Michael Kolodko‘s mini statues.

It’s a perfect program for first-time visitors because many of the statues are near to main attractions, but at the same time, it’s a special experience too, as some of them are located in the true local neighborhoods. It’ll be a classical sightseeing tour, but it is a real treasure hunt as well; while you look for the art pieces on the streets, you can admire beautiful attractions like the Chain bridge, and listen to the stories that the artist wants to tell us through his statues.

The perfect combination: a bit of a general, a bit of the hidden gems.

Itinerary

First, we meet at your accommodation or wherever we discuss it in advance.

We start at the City Park (Városliget) where we can enjoy the view of Heroes Square, Széchenyi Thermal Bath, and Vajdahunyad Castle, and of course, we have to find the first mini statue!

Afterward, we head to the center through the 6th district to explore local neighborhoods and find two more of the statues.

In the Jewish district we have to find 3 more statues, and thanks to their locations, we can see the New York Café, and the Grand Synagogue.

After we explore the rest of the mini statues downtown and see the Parliament and the St Steven Basilica, we cross the Chain bridge. Our statue hunt in Buda starts in the Castle district, then goes through the Promenade.

The last stop in Buda is across Margaret Bridge, we arrive back in Pest, where we find the last statue of the hunt.

“Petra was entertaining, thorough and informative. We saw a good part of the city while learning about history and culture, in addition she shared personal information that was both relevant and funny. We look forward to future visits to Budapest where we can spend more time with her and learn more about this beautiful city.”
